A 17th century Baroque interior

Baroque is the new black. Similar to the fashion trends hitting runways in Paris, Milan and Tokyo the baroque theme is happening in the world of interior design. Originating in 17th century Europe the style became very popular and has appeared many times since then. It is a very strong trend in terms of interior design. It can be quite heavy and overwhelming. This however doesn't have to restrict you and your love for anything baroque. It is a style that you can easily combine with more simplistic modern features. You really have a blank canvas to work with when you choose baroque. If you want to go all out and create a Versailles like palace in your home then you are more than free to do so. Although this is often not practical and a more laid back approach is needed.

Using a contemporary modern style that has baroque features is a good way to go if you want the best of both worlds. Being elaborate in accessorising your interior with things like door handles, mirrors and gold can turn a normal interior to a very big statement. You will be surprised how many options there are with baroque. There are even different ages. Something like a elaborate lamp compared to a more modern transparent plastic lamp is an example of how the style can be both true to its 17th century origins or a more modern interpretation.

The bathroom has endless opportunities to incorporate the baroque. From the need of a big mirror which you can border with an elaborate frame to the use of marble, these are just a few ideas of how the bathroom or ensuite can be the perfect room inside your house to start your baroque makeover. Be careful not to go too over the top as, like with any other interior styling, it can become too much very quickly. It is best to use a moderate amount and do it well. Nothing worse than too much baroque, it will look too crowded and busy.
